First Steps in Counseling
Thank you for considering beginning counseling at Diversified Counseling and Consulting Services!
We realize this may be your first experience with therapy and understand this can seem very intimidating. We will outline the first steps you can expect below to make this as easy as possible for you.
First, please call our office. We won't take any insurance or sensitive information through this site or through email due to HIPAA compliance policies. We truly respect your privacy and will do nothing to jeopardize that.
When you call our office we will ask some basic questions. They are as follows
Name, phone number, address and birth date for the patient. If the patient is over 18 and is not under guardianship they must make this call themselves
Insurance carrier, policy holder, insurance enrollee number and group number
The basic reason you'd like to see a therapist, examples are anxiety, depression, grief, coping skills
Our office manager will check your benefits for you, then call you to set up your appointment date and time. The manager will offer you a few dates and times to try to best meet your schedule and that of the therapists.
We do try to accommodate your choice in therapists, but based on caseloads and which therapists are in network with which insurance companies this might not always be possible.
We do have a cancellation/reschedule policy.
Reschedule-changing your appointment to another day or time within the same calendar week. There is no charge for this.
Cancellation or missed appointment. This is an appointment that your are unable to make during the week and are unable to reschedule within that same week. Missed appointment is an appointment you simply do not show up for.
First cancelled or missed appointment no charge
Second cancelled or missed appointment $50.00 charge
Third or more cancelled or missed appointment $80.00 charge
*Emergencies will be considered
