Therapy in the wake of COVID-19

As the weeks of staying in shelter string together, many of you may wonder what therapy options there are. You may be missing seeing your therapist regularly, and it may start to feel like too much. I feel pretty sure that I speak for all of us at Diversified Counseling and Consulting Services that we miss you, too! In this time, we are offering telehealth services to continue to connect with you. These can be done in one of two ways: either telephonically or through the secure web based service, doxyme. Allow me to expand on both of them, because we want you to feel in control of how you can obtain services now if you need or want them.

Telephonic sessions are direct phone calls that you have with your therapist. They can last that whole therapy session, not just a quick 'touch base' conversation, though we are happy to have those with you as well! These sessions can be helpful if you live in an area where internet service is dicey or unstable, especially in the wake of the wind for the past couple of days. It would be a true therapy session, just without the benefit of seeing your therapist face to face.

Our other option that we are proud to offer is the telehealth session through the doxyme platform. With the increase in demand for online video conferencing, there have been stories surfacing about Zoom calls being interfered with, and please be assured that the doxyme platform is VERY secure, is HIPPAA compliant, and available to use either over traditional internet/wifi services or through your cellular data service on your phone. Doxyme sessions are very similar to Zoom calls or FaceTime options in that you are able to see your therapist in real time, and we can even get files/assignments to you through the portal.

And, both of these options are available through health insurance plans right now, with no preauthorization required!

We want you to know that we are still here for you during this stressful time. We stand at the ready to serve you, our clients and community, in offering support and guidance in either of these ways. And, after life gets back to 'normal', we will still be here if you prefer to wait. If you would like more information or to schedule a session, please feel free to call the office and we will respond within 24 hours to help!
